An opportunity to do a work experience abroad is offered by the programs of Erasmus+.
The projects include a short or long period in one of EU Member States, or European Free Trade Area/European Economic Area countries. Erasmus+ offers also opportunities for UK participants to study, volunteer, teach and train abroad in Europe.
It is aimed at young people aged between 13-30 and youth workers of any age from UK organisations.
European Voluntary Service
The European Voluntary Service — EVS is a programme where young people living in the UK can take part in volunteering opportunities, lasting from two weeks to 12 months. It is aimed at young aged between 18-30. UK volunteers can undertake their activity in any of the other 32 Countries who participate in the programme or in any of the Partner Countries neighbouring the EU. Travel, accommodation, food and insurance are covered by Erasmus+ funding, who provide you with a small monthly allowance.
Erasmus+ Programme (2014-2020)
The Erasmus+ programme is a European Union (EU) funding programme which runs from 2014 – 2020.
The Erasmus+ programmes are:
- Comenius, Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci and Grundtvig.
- Youth in action.
- Transversal, Jean Monnet.
- Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink.
1) Comenius
Comenius was the European Union programme for the schools sector before Erasmus+.
2) Erasmus
Erasmus was the European Union programme for the higher education sector before Erasmus+.
3) Leonardo Da Vinci
The Leonardo programme supports UK vocational education and training (VET) organisations, staff and learners to work together with European partners to improve training, skills and employability.
4) Grundtvig
The Grundtvig programme from 2007-2013 supported individuals and organisations involved in non-vocational adult education to participate in European training activities and projects.
5) Youth in action
Programme for youth exchanges, youth initiatives, youth Democracy Projects, Voluntary Service.
6) Transversal
The Transversal programme from 2007-2013 supported professionals working in education and training to exchange expertise and share best practice across Europe.
7) Jean Monnet
It provides support and funding to academic institutions and other associations active in the field of European integration studies in order to promote excellence in European integration studies in higher education.
8) Capacity Building in the field of higher education
They are transnational cooperation projects built on the success of the former Alfa, Edu-link and Tempus programmes, based on multilateral partnerships, between higher education institutions from Programme Countries and eligible Partner Countries.
Erasmus Placement
It is a programme that provides students at universities and higher education institutions to spend a placement period between 3 months to 12 months in an enterprise or organisation in another participating European country.
Au Pair
It is a period living with a host family and looking after their children, whilst learning more about culture and language’s Country.
To work as Au pair:
- You have to be aged between 18 and 30.
- You have to know the language of the host Country family.
- If you have experience as baby-sitter it is better.
